After a few years in a pandemic, some of us were left with this sinking feeling that the Monday to Friday, 40-hour work week may not be the best option after all…

Many of us have had to adapt to a new work-from-home lifestyle, or have even chosen that path for ourselves over the last couple of years. While this transition can seem daunting, it’s safe to say that we’ve discovered some incredible benefits to our new work-from-home lifestyle!

Increased productivity

Working from home gives you the freedom to set your own schedule and work at your own pace. You don't have to worry about rushing through a project because someone else has booked the space, or getting stuck in traffic on the way to work! Instead, you can take all the time you need to get things done right, without anyone looking over your shoulder. While we don’t always realize the pressure we feel from our peers and superiors - removing that shadow of authority allows you to get comfortable and go with your own flow!

Improved focus

When you work in an office environment, there are always distractions — coworkers stopping by your desk, or meetings that pop up unexpectedly. When you work at home, these distractions don't exist. If you need to focus on a project, you can shut yourself off from everything else and get things done without interruption. This is key for my fellow neuro-divergent business owners - you get to create your perfect ADHD oasis, free from distractions!

More time with family and increased emotional support

When you work from home, you have the flexibility to take breaks and spend time with your family, which is crucial for your mental health. This one is key for me as a single, working parent. By working from home, I’m able to stay involved in my kids' education, show up for every extra-curricular activity, practice, or game, and have the luxury of still being able to work when they get sick! Working from home has been a life-saver when it comes to being there for my kids.

More time for self-care

Working from home also means you have more time to take care of yourself. It’s much easier to add self-care activities to your day when you’re in your own environment! The flexibility of working from home also allows you to do things like take a walk on your lunch break or prepare fresh, homemade meals to keep you going throughout your work day!

Better work-life balance

Working from home enables you to create a work schedule that fits around your lifestyle, instead of vice versa. You can prioritize your mental health and personal life without sacrificing your career goals. And at the end of the day, we all know that in order to run a successful business, you need to make sure you are running in the most successful way possible, too.
